VIS Arts #5, 2018
digital print

This self portrait photography series was shot on the location of where I had found this sign, which resided in the location of where I have been working and studying for the past 4 years. This sign, which says “VIS ARTS #5” was made to label university facility utilities. I had walked past this particular sign for years, which was hung with a chain around a brightly colored pipe. I took the sign and hung it around my neck to signify how I felt an institution had wronged us. I took this sign to represent my feelings, experiences and the level of my citizenship within my community where I studied and worked and how the institution valued us. I felt that the number represented my level of citizenship at this institution.
