A gesture I installed in 2016 in front of UC San Diego’s University Art Gallery as a reaction against the announced closing of the space by the school administration. The gallery was founded in 1966… I printed out numbers in vinyl representing the 50 years that the gallery had been active and pasted them on the floor in front of the entrance. Each year occupied a concrete block. The gesture was part of a group artist run series of protests run by UC San Diego visual art faculty and students and after 3 weeks of protests and campaigns, we were able to stop the gallery from closing.
